'Our Neighborhood Cultural Bookstore' Calls for 20 Hope Bookstores
The Korea Federation of Bookstore Associations is recruiting local bookstores to participate in the 'Our Neighborhood Cultural Bookstore' project. A total of 20 bookstores will be selected. Applications will be accepted until the 24th, with announcements made on the 31st.

The project selects small to medium-sized local bookstores that wish to engage in cultural activities but face difficulties due to a lack of planning capabilities and experience. Selected bookstores will receive cultural activity plans designed by cultural planners and an operating fund of 1 million KRW. The proposed plans include ▲ 'Reading Club Starting with Life Books' (Lee Ol, representative of Bookstore Eolshida) ▲ 'Making Character Dolls from the Book "I Draw Every Day"' (Slobot, representative of Bukguk Bookstore) ▲ 'Philosopher Heo Kyung, How Should We View ChatGPT, the Thinking Computer?' / 'Welcome to Hyunamdong Bookstore Book Talk' (Lee Byungjin, team leader of Jinju Bookstore) ▲ 'Attractive Writing Club with Author Pyun Seongjun' (Heo Jisoo, representative of Ohu Library).
A representative from the Korea Federation of Bookstore Associations in charge of the 'Our Neighborhood Cultural Bookstore' project stated, “Through this project, we hope bookstores gain experience in running cultural activities and gradually learn the process, enabling them to sustain cultural activities and become beloved cultural bookstores in their communities.” They added, “We encourage many local bookstores that have found it difficult to plan cultural activities and have not yet tried operating them to participate.”
