Publication of '60 Years of Incheon Urban Planning Stories'... 5 Volumes by Theme
Incheon City announced on the 10th that it has published "60 Years of Incheon Urban Planning Stories," which captures the changes in urban planning.
Since the enforcement of the Urban Planning Act in 1962, the city has continuously grown and developed. The policies and changes in Incheon's urban planning have been organized into five themes: urban spatial policy, existing urban areas, new urban areas, industrial space development, and transportation and logistics.
The book is compiled into one volume per theme. The five volumes cover ▲the evolution of Incheon's basic urban plans and spatial changes ▲the growth, decline, and urban regeneration of Incheon's existing urban areas ▲the formation and expansion of Incheon city areas and transformation into a new city ▲the changes in industrial complexes and factories, which are the center of Incheon's economic growth ▲and the process of expanding social infrastructure such as airports, ports, expressways, railroads, and maritime bridges.
Additionally, in collaboration with literary writers, the book was created in a popular format to make it easy for citizens to understand. The content of the book was also produced as videos so that children can easily learn about Incheon's changes and development process.
An official from Incheon City said, "This book shows how the neighborhoods we live in were formed and the process through which the roads we commute on every day were created," adding, "We hope it will be used as a historical resource on Incheon's urban planning as a large city and as basic data to set the direction for future urban planning in Incheon."
The book will be distributed to public libraries in Incheon and institutions related to urban planning.
