Heatwave during Soseo... Rain in Parts of Southern Regions and Jeju
On Friday the 7th, which marks Soseo (小暑, Minor Heat), the period when the heat of summer begins in earnest, many places, especially in the central region, will see daytime temperatures rise above 31 degrees Celsius. Due to high humidity, some areas will experience a maximum apparent temperature exceeding 33 degrees Celsius, making it feel very hot.
The morning low temperatures will range from 20 to 25 degrees Celsius, and the daytime highs will be between 24 and 32 degrees Celsius, generally similar to today’s temperatures (morning lows 17 to 27 degrees, highs 26 to 35 degrees).
Due to the stationary front, rain will begin from early dawn tomorrow in Jeju Island, from the morning in the southern regions, and from late afternoon in the southern Chungcheong area. Especially between tomorrow morning and the morning after tomorrow, very heavy and intense rain is expected mainly in the Jeolla region, southern Gyeongsangbuk-do, Gyeongsangnam-do, and Jeju Island.
Expected rainfall amounts from the 7th to the morning of the 9th are 50 to 100 mm in Jeonnam, Gyeongnam, and Jeju Island (with some areas in Jeonnam, coastal Gyeongnam, near Jirisan, and Jeju Island exceeding 150 mm), 20 to 80 mm in Jeonbuk and southern Gyeongsangbuk-do (with some places exceeding 100 mm), and 5 to 30 mm in southern Chungcheong and northern Gyeongsangbuk-do.
Fine dust levels are expected to be 'Good' to 'Moderate' nationwide due to smooth atmospheric dispersion.
In the southern Yellow Sea, southern East Sea, South Sea, and around Jeju Island, there will be gusty winds accompanied by thunder and lightning in some areas. Dense fog will persist over all seas for the time being, so caution is advised to prevent maritime accidents.
