Jindo County Council Holds 1st Anniversary Ceremony of the 9th Opening

Pledging Active Legislative Activities for the Welfare Improvement of Residents

The Jindo County Council in Jeollanam-do (Chairman Jang Young-woo) announced on the 6th that it held a commemorative event on the 5th to mark the 1st anniversary of the opening of the 9th council.

The ceremony looked back on the footsteps of past Jindo County Councils since its establishment in 1991 and included a plaque unveiling ceremony pledging a new leap toward realizing local autonomy, followed by a commemorative tree planting and a meeting. To celebrate the 1st anniversary, County Governor Kim Hee-soo and related officials attended the event.

Meanwhile, the 9th Jindo County Council has effectively operated a total of 10 sessions over 95 days, from the 280th extraordinary session to the 289th regular session, deliberating and resolving a total of 101 agenda items, including 67 ordinances, 8 budget and settlement proposals, 7 recommendations and resolutions, and 13 others.

In particular, 27 proposals were initiated by council members, demonstrating active legislative activities to reflect the opinions of residents in county administration. Through administrative audits and county government inquiries, the council also fulfilled its role of monitoring and checking the executive branch by demanding improvements and corrections for incomplete or unreasonable matters.

Chairman Jang Young-woo said, “It has been a hectic year dedicated to regional development and the happiness of residents,” adding, “I thank the residents who supported and encouraged the 9th Jindo County Council, and I also appreciate my fellow council members who did their best in legislative activities.”
