與 "Democratic Party's Sit-in Protest Outdated... Is It 'Ripley Syndrome'?"
"Only Syria, Iran, and North Korea Have Clashed with the IAEA"
The People Power Party criticized the Democratic Party of Korea, which decided to hold an overnight sit-in to block the discharge of contaminated water from the Fukushima nuclear power plant, saying it might be suffering from 'Ripley syndrome,' believing lies to be the truth.
Yoon Jae-ok, floor leader of the People Power Party, said at the Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly on the same day, "The Democratic Party is insisting that the report created by scientists from 11 countries over two years is a worthless report, a report tailored for Japan, and even spreading fake news claiming that Japan bribed the IAEA with money over the issue of contributions."
Yoon added, "At the same time, they do not mention that China pays twice as much as Japan in IAEA contributions, nor that our country was the chair of the IAEA Board of Governors until September last year," and criticized, "I am worried that the Democratic Party has fallen into Ripley syndrome, believing the lies they created to be the truth by covering lies with more lies." He also added, "I hope they remember that the only countries that have taken unreasonable stances against the IAEA in the past were Syria, Iran, and North Korea."

Yoon said, "When the public showed no interest in such (Democratic Party's) groundless claims, they declared solidarity with civil society groups and said they would summon the veterans who led the mad cow disease and THAAD agitation. Are they determined to overturn the country once again?"
He continued, "They say they will even consider legislation to ban all Japanese seafood imports if the Japanese government starts the discharge. Are they trying to start a trade war after singing the 'Jukchangga' (a traditional Korean song)?" He emphasized, "They also express a desire for supplementary budgets under the pretext of supporting the fisheries industry, which is a ruthless idea to push the fisheries industry to the brink of collapse for political gain and then hold the supplementary budget hostage."
Lee Yang-su, senior deputy floor leader, also appeared on SBS Radio that morning and criticized the opposition's overnight sit-in, saying, "We failed four years ago during the fast-track process because of that." He said, "At that time, politicians were obsessed with the obligation not to do nothing and stayed up all night and went out to Gwanghwamun. Meanwhile, many moderate voters left," adding, "So, in the last election, we received a poor result of 107 seats, and it seems the Democratic Party is repeating that."
The People Power Party is expected to raise the level of response to the opposition's attacks related to 'rumors' in the future. The party filed a complaint with the National Assembly Ethics Committee against Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party, Im Jong-sung, and Kim Young-joo, vice-chairman, for damaging the dignity of lawmakers with remarks related to Fukushima contaminated water the day before.
