A convergence platform has been established where Korean scientists and engineers from around the world and those in Korea exchange research achievements and collaborate. It has been less than a year since President Yoon Seok-yeol visited New York University last September and promised to hold the 'World Korean Scientists and Engineers Academic Conference.' President Yoon stated, "We will actively support young scientists to conduct research and take on challenges together with the world's top research teams and excellent research institutions."
On the morning of the 5th, President Yoon attended the '1st World Korean Scientists and Engineers Conference' held at the Science and Technology Center located in Gangnam, Seoul, and emphasized, "R&D (Research and Development) investment must be directed toward world-class research," adding, "Supporting global cooperation on research that will change our lives is indeed the responsibility of the nation."

Since this event was organized following President Yoon's proposal, he expressed gratitude, saying, "The reason South Korea has advanced as a leading country in cutting-edge science and technology and digital power is thanks to our scientists and engineers who possess a spirit of challenge, innovative capabilities, and outstanding skills."
He also hinted that science and technology are essential for expanding 'freedom,' a core national philosophy of the Yoon administration. President Yoon elaborated, "International solidarity is important for improving the welfare of global citizens and expanding freedom, and among these, the most important is building networks, exchanging, and cooperating with overseas Korean scientists."
He also expressed his determination to focus support on the government’s R&D budget, which has exceeded 30 trillion won this year. President Yoon promised, "Building networks, exchanging, and cooperating with overseas Korean scientists is the beginning of international solidarity in science and technology. The government will provide full support so that they can freely conduct research and exchange."
After the opening ceremony that day, President Yoon’s interest was clearly shown at the separately prepared country-specific promotional booths. When a student from Canada said, "I am currently researching crack detection sensors at the University of Toronto," President Yoon asked how cracks are measured. To a student from France who said, "I am researching Listeria (food poisoning bacteria), and my dream is to spread K-Food in Europe," President Yoon responded, "I have heard that Korean food culture is spreading widely in France."

Meanwhile, President Yoon mentioned the 'opposition party’s non-cooperation' as the reason for the delay in establishing the Space and Aeronautics Agency and requested the prompt passage of the bill. He said, "During my visit to the U.S. last May, both Korea and the U.S. agreed on personnel exchanges and joint research cooperation between Korea’s Space and Aeronautics Agency and NASA," adding, "It is regrettable that the establishment bill for the Space and Aeronautics Agency, the leading institution for this, has not even been discussed due to the opposition party’s non-cooperation since its submission to the National Assembly in April." He further added, "I hope the bill will be passed as soon as possible so that our young people can realize their dreams with world-class research institutions and that the Space and Aeronautics Agency will be established within this year."
