On the 5th, Mayor Shin held a press conference at City Hall marking the first anniversary of his inauguration for the 8th term of direct election. He presented a new vision for the hopeful city of Seongnam, "A Colorful Seongnam," and proposed four practical strategies in the areas of ▲urban development ▲the 4th Industrial Revolution ▲healing city ▲customized welfare city.
Regarding urban development, he emphasized, "We will reestablish the 2030 Seongnam City Urban Residential Environment Improvement Basic Plan, revise the system, and cooperate with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) to swiftly promote redevelopment and new town maintenance projects in the old and new downtown areas." Previously, in November last year, Seongnam City formed a 'Redevelopment and Reconstruction Promotion Support Group' directly under the mayor.
As part of the urban development practical strategies, he proposed resolving height restriction issues, promoting cultural and artistic facilities on the site of the Gumi-dong sewage treatment plant, completing the Baekhyeon MICE complex by 2030, and expanding and rebuilding the Bundang-gu Health Center at its current location by the first half of 2029.
Mayor Shin also expressed his ambition to transform the entire Seongnam City into a massive advanced industrial cluster.
He shared his vision, saying, "We will create a next-generation system semiconductor cluster encompassing the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Pangyo Techno Valleys and Yatap Valley, and establish a bio-health cluster on the site of the Jeongja-dong housing exhibition hall, thereby turning the entire Seongnam City into a 4th Industrial Revolution cluster."
In addition, Mayor Shin plans to develop Daewon Park and Yuldong Park into a theme park and an ecological cultural park, respectively, nurturing a healing city where nature and humans coexist. He also announced plans to strengthen a comprehensive support system for socially vulnerable groups such as children, the elderly, and the disabled.
