Boseong-gun, Spend This Summer Vacation at Jaeamsan Natural Recreation Forest
July 22 Opening of Valley Natural Water Play Facility
Jeamsan Natural Recreation Forest in Boseong-gun, Jeollanam-do is stepping up preparations to welcome vacationers ahead of the peak summer holiday season.
First, from July 22 to August 20, two water play areas will be operated. The water play areas are open daily from 10:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
Boseong-gun has completed preliminary safety training, including CPR, for the management staff within Jeamsan Natural Recreation Forest and plans to deploy five safety personnel to ensure the safe operation of the water play areas.
The recreation forest’s water play areas are all filled with natural valley water and have the advantage of being adjacent to lodging facilities such as accommodations and campgrounds. Even if you do not use camping facilities, you can reserve a campsite to enjoy a picnic along with the water play areas.
Jeamsan Natural Recreation Forest, spanning 160 hectares of forest, offers cool valley water and various experiential activities including camping. Representative facilities include ‘Eco Adventure,’ ‘Zipline,’ and ‘Bear Sled.’
The Bear Sled is 238 meters long and 15 meters high, allowing visitors to glide through the forest on a sled and fully enjoy nature. Many visitors come to experience the view of the lake from this elevated spot.
There are also various facilities where visitors can enjoy relaxation while experiencing the forest. Within the 160-hectare forest, there are 48 lodging facilities and 51 campsites, as well as barrier-free deck paths that allow strollers and wheelchairs to enjoy forest bathing, which is a point of pride for Jeamsan Natural Recreation Forest.
The forest interpretation program has established itself as a way to understand and learn about the diverse ecology of Jeamsan Natural Recreation Forest as part of forest recreation. The popular toddler forest program combines experience and education so that children can grow up with nature.
Boseong-gun announced that applications for education and university MTs (Membership Trainings) to use Jeamsan Natural Recreation Forest and the Healing Center are pouring in, with about 70 teams and over 6,500 people having made reservations so far.
Meanwhile, Jeamsan Natural Recreation Forest in Boseong-gun has established itself as a representative recreation forest in Korea by being selected for awards such as the ‘2018 Korea Tourism Star’ by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization, ‘Recommended Places to Visit in May and June,’ ‘Good Walking Paths in August,’ and the ‘2019 Korea Unique Venue Top 30.’
Additionally, the ‘Jeonnam Environmental Disease Prevention and Management Center’ located within the recreation forest is an ecological space where humans and nature can interact. It has been selected three consecutive times as a ‘Recommended Wellness Tourism Destination’ by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization in 2023, attracting continuous training sessions from external educational institutions.
