Mokpo Coast Guard Supports Safety Management at Local Beaches
Support for Water Play Prevention and Safety Management at 24 Beaches within Jurisdiction
Mokpo Maritime Police Station (Chief Kim Hae-cheol) has established the '2023 Beach Safety Management Support Plan' and has begun full-scale support activities to ensure safety and prevent accidents at beaches during the summer season.
According to Mokpo Maritime Police on the 3rd, with 24 beaches under Mokpo Maritime Police jurisdiction set to open from the 8th of this month until the 20th of next month, a total of 44 days, safety management tasks by related agencies, including preparation for water play accidents, are expected to be intensified.
Accordingly, starting with the Mokpo City Beach Council on May 22, and attending the Shinan-gun Beach Council, which has the largest number of beaches in the jurisdiction, the station plans to establish a support and cooperation system among related agencies and formulate a beach safety management support plan. They will actively provide support using personnel and equipment.
Additionally, by organizing a maritime patrol team and supporting coastal rescue boats and patrol cars, they will focus on proactive accident prevention through regular maritime and coastal patrols. They also plan to establish an emergency communication system and information sharing among related agencies to ensure a prompt rescue response.

A Mokpo Maritime Police official stated, “The maritime police will actively support safety management to prevent any casualties during the beach opening period,” and added, “We will do our best to establish a culture of water safety and support marine emergency rescue.”
