Eunpyeong-gu Recruiting Stores to Participate in 'Artterior'
July 3?16: Recruiting 40 Small Business Stores in ‘Bulgwang Food Alley’
Supporting Design Improvements Inside and Outside Stores in Collaboration with Local Artists
District Mayor Kim Mi-kyung “Expecting a Boost to the Stagnant Alley Commercial Area”
Eunpyeong-gu (District Mayor Kim Mi-kyung) will begin recruiting stores to participate in the ‘Our Neighborhood Store Artterior Support Project,’ which improves the design of small business stores in collaboration with local artists, starting July 3.
‘Artterior’ is a combination of art and interior, a project that supports communication between local artists and store owners to improve interior and exterior designs such as signage.
Small business owners can enhance their competitiveness, and local artists gain work experience and income.
This year’s support targets small business stores located in the alley-type shopping district ‘Bulgwang Meokja Golmok’ (Tongillo 66-gil), recruiting a total of 40 stores. The target stores are those with physical storefronts where consumers visit to purchase products and services. Franchises, chain stores, and entertainment businesses are not eligible to apply.
Selected stores will receive support not only for design material costs but also for local artists’ activity fees on-site, design consulting, and professional companies for communication.
Small business owners wishing to apply can submit their participation application forms by visiting or emailing the District Office’s Job and Economy Division from July 3 to 16. Detailed information, including application forms, can be found on the district website’s public notice section.
This year, Eunpyeong-gu’s total budget for the ‘Artterior Support Project’ is 150 million KRW, fully funded by the district. From 2020 through last year, a total of 180 small business stores have received design improvement support through the Eunpyeong-gu Artterior project.
A small business owner who participated in Artterior said, “The Artterior project brought vitality. Passersby even come in to take photos, which increased communication with customers.”
