Heron Breeding Video Screening, Making Circular Badges, and More
Videos capturing the "mystery of life" through an egret observation camera are reaching young children.
Ulsan City announced on the 1st that, under the organization of the Taehwagang Ecotourism Council (Chairman Go Young-jin), it will operate the "Visiting Egret Ecology School" for kindergarten and daycare children in Ulsan from the 3rd to August 31st.
The council has been operating the "Taehwagang Egret Chick Rearing Experience Center" since April, and many kindergartens and daycare centers participating in the experience have inquired about educational programs on egrets.
Ulsan City and the council have prepared an educational program where a nature environment interpreter visits directly to explain the bird's body structure and introduce egret species.
The education is conducted by watching videos filmed from the time the little herons, which bred in Taehwagang, lay eggs and the chicks hatch and grow until they leave the nest, followed by discussions. The videos are edited materials captured by egret CCTVs installed in the Taehwagang bamboo forest by the city.
In addition to video education, there is also a hands-on experience making round badges featuring photos of egrets visiting Taehwagang. The education lasts about an hour and is free of charge.
Kindergartens and daycare centers wishing to participate in the program can apply by phone to the Taehwagang Exploration Information Center.
An official from Ulsan City said, "This program, which explains the egrets visiting Taehwagang and their breeding process to young children, will provide education that helps them understand the ecology of egrets and the preciousness of the birth of life."
