Gumi-si and Gyeongbuk Province Selected as ‘Outstanding Institutions’ for This Year’s Wildfire Prevention and Control
Securing 300 Million KRW in Special Adjustment Grants Recognized for Initial Response Evolution and Proactive Prevention Activities
Gumi City in Gyeongbuk Province was selected as an outstanding institution in the 2023 Spring Wildfire Prevention and Control Evaluation conducted for 23 cities and counties in the province, and will receive a financial reward of 300 million KRW as a 'Special Adjustment Grant.'
The city received high scores in 11 evaluation categories, including leasing and operating medium-sized helicopters to improve initial firefighting response capabilities within the golden time, imposing fines for forest protection, conducting wildfire prevention campaigns, and actively supporting helicopters and firefighting teams for wildfire suppression in the province.
Additionally, in the wildfire prevention category, Gumi was recognized for minimizing the number of wildfire occurrences and for its active promotional efforts for wildfire prevention, ranking among the top five cities and counties.
