Incheon City Conducts Safety Inspections at 154 Construction Sites... 78 Cases of Fall Prevention Deficiencies Corrected
Incheon City announced on the 30th that it conducted safety inspections at 154 construction sites over the course of about two months starting from April 20, resulting in 78 corrective actions.
The inspection targets were construction sites with a scale of basement level 1 to above ground level 3 and a total floor area of 1,000㎡ or more.
The city formed a joint inspection team with private experts to focus on checking the installation of work platforms and safety railings, fall prevention facilities, and other safety management measures.
Regarding work platforms and safety railings, they must be installed according to installation standards to ensure the safety of workers working at heights; however, 18 issues such as poor platform fixation and missing installations in some sections were found and corrected.
Additionally, 42 cases were detected where fall prevention facilities were improperly installed, such as the absence of fall protection nets or inadequate management of safety fences around openings.
Other safety management issues, including failure to conduct safety education and workers not wearing protective gear, were addressed in 18 cases on site.
An official from Incheon City stated, "Due to the frequent occurrence of safety accidents at construction sites recently, we have initiated preemptive inspections," and added, "We will do our best to establish a reliable safety management system to prevent safety accidents in the future."
