Gwangjin-gu Establishes U-Turn Lane in Front of National Center for Mental Health…Improving Mobility Convenience for Local Residents
No U-Turn Lane in the Section from Yongmasan-ro Jungnang-gu Boundary to the National Center for Mental Health Caused Ongoing Inconvenience for Residents
After Two Years of Efforts to Resolve Long-Standing Resident Inconvenience, a U-Turn Lane Was Established to Enhance Traffic Convenience
Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) has established a U-turn lane at the intersection in front of the National Center for Mental Health (127 Yongmasan-ro).
The section from the Yongmasan-ro Jungnang-gu boundary to the National Center for Mental Health lacked a U-turn lane, causing ongoing inconvenience for residents. Residents living in Junggok 4-dong in this area had to enter their residential area by making a P-turn or detouring.
To resolve the long-standing inconvenience of residents, the district established close cooperative relationships with related organizations such as Seoul City and the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency starting from July 2021 and conducted numerous working-level consultations.
As a result, the final construction plan was established in May 2022, and after processes including sidewalk reduction, relocation of traffic safety facilities, and removal of obstacles, the U-turn lane installation was completed in June of this year.
Residents living in the area can now avoid the hassle of detouring several hundred meters.
Additionally, the district will begin construction to install a U-turn lane at the intersection in front of Junggok 3-dong Health and Welfare Administration Town starting in July. Similar to the case of the National Center for Mental Health, this is expected to improve accessibility to nearby residential areas and enhance resident convenience.
