Police Conduct Search and Seizure of Former Branch Chairperson of Nationwide Construction Industry Union Crane Division
The police have launched a search and seizure operation targeting the Metropolitan Branch of the Tower Crane Division of the National Construction Industry Union.
On the 29th, the Guro Police Station in Seoul has been conducting a search and seizure since around 8 a.m. at the office in Bucheon, Gyeonggi Province, which the Metropolitan Branch of the Tower Crane Division of the National Construction Industry Union used until last year.
According to the police, Mr. A, the former branch president of the Tower Crane Division of the National Construction Industry Union, is accused of extorting tens of millions of won and coercing hiring from construction companies at apartment construction sites in the Eunpyeong and Guro districts of Seoul from mid-2019 until last year (charges of joint extortion and coercion under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes).

The Construction Industry Union was affiliated with the Federation of Korean Trade Unions, but in July last year, former chairman Jin Byeong-jun was expelled from the Federation due to an embezzlement case involving union dues.
