Development of a Complex Cultural Town on the KBS Transmission Site in Gaebong-dong, Guro-gu
Groundbreaking Ceremony for Construction Project on the 27th... Establishment of Library and Lifelong Learning Center
Target Completion by June 2025
A complex cultural town will be established on the site of the former KBS transmission station at 195-6 Gaebong-dong, Guro-gu.
Guro-gu (Mayor Moon Heon-il) announced on the 27th that it held a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the complex cultural town on the site of the Gaebong-dong KBS transmission station.
About 100 people attended the event, including Mayor Moon Heon-il of Guro-gu, local members of the National Assembly, city and district council members, and residents.
The complex cultural town is scheduled to be built by June 2025 on the 7,876.54㎡ site of the KBS transmission station, consisting of two buildings: a library building (B1 to 4F) and an education and research building (B1 to 3F).
It will house a hub library, youth shelter, artist creation space, pet education center, community care center, lifelong learning center, world caf?, public activity support center, and the Red Cross volunteer society.
A total of approximately 30.5 billion KRW, including national, city, and district funds, will be invested in this project.
The complex cultural town will provide various learning opportunities and cultural services to residents of Gaebong-dong, where public infrastructure is insufficient. Additionally, it will serve as a cultural and educational hub in the southwestern region of Seoul.
Mayor Moon Heon-il said, “Once the complex cultural town is completed, it is expected to greatly improve the convenience of residents' daily lives,” and added, “We will continue to communicate with residents and do our best to ensure there are no inconveniences during the construction process.”

The Gaebong-dong KBS transmission station site has been a long-standing project target for Guro-gu, and after various reviews on how to utilize the site, the construction of the complex cultural town was pursued.
Selected in 2019 as part of the Life SOC complex project, the design service was conducted over 375 days following a design competition in 2021, and three resident briefing sessions were held this year to gather residents' opinions.
