On the 28th, Gyeonggi Province announced that from May 1 to 30, it conducted joint inspections with 31 cities and counties on 1,474 group meal service facilities at daycare centers with 50 or more meal recipients across the province to prevent food poisoning, and found six facilities violating the Food Sanitation Act and related regulations.
The six violations detected include ▲storage of expired products (2 locations) ▲failure to conduct health checks for workers (2 locations) ▲failure to keep preserved food samples (1 location) ▲violation of group meal service facility installation and operation requirements (1 location).
For example, Daycare Center A was caught storing mustard sauce that was 36 days past its expiration date. Daycare Center B failed to comply with the regulation requiring that each single serving of prepared and served food be stored at or below minus 18 degrees Celsius for at least 144 hours.
Separately, Gyeonggi Province collected 158 food samples from the inspection targets and tested for food poisoning bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus, all of which were found to be compliant.
Gyeonggi Province stated that the relevant city and county governments will impose administrative sanctions such as fines on the violators identified in this inspection, and will conduct re-inspections within six months to verify whether the violations have been corrected.
