Keynote Speech at Steel Conference in New York
Meetings with Investors Including JP Morgan Chase
Choi Jung-woo, Chairman of POSCO Group (POSCO Holdings), is continuing his global management activities by meeting with major investors and business leaders in North America to discuss cooperation plans.
On the 27th (local time), Chairman Choi delivered the keynote speech at the steel conference "Global Steel Dynamics Forum" held in New York, USA, where he introduced the megatrends facing the steel industry such as climate change, social structural changes, and technological innovation, emphasizing that cross-border solidarity and cooperation are necessary to sustain growth.

View original imageThe conference was attended by steel industry leaders including Chairman Choi, Leon Topalian, CEO of Nucor, Maximo Vedoya, CEO of Ternium, Edwin Basson, Secretary-General of the World Steel Association, and Frank Mrvan, co-chair of the U.S. Steel Congressional Caucus, who discussed the sustainable growth of the steel industry.
Chairman Choi also explained POSCO's future strategy to secure new growth engines. Based on the 2050 carbon neutrality roadmap, POSCO launched the carbon-neutral master brand "Greenate," and plans to lead the net-zero steel era by expanding low-carbon bridge technologies and developing and commercializing POSCO's proprietary hydrogen reduction steelmaking technology, "HyREX."
In particular, POSCO received enthusiastic applause from attendees by screening a self-produced documentary recording the 135-day flood recovery process at the Pohang Steelworks.
Additionally, on the 26th and 27th in New York, Chairman Choi met directly with global financial institutions and investors such as JP Morgan Chase, Alliance Bernstein, and Westwood Global Investments to explain the progress of the group’s future growth businesses and listen to shareholders' opinions.
In a meeting with Daniel Pinto, President and CEO of JP Morgan Chase, Chairman Choi explained that POSCO Group is achieving concrete results through building a secondary battery materials value chain, including the commercialization plant for lithium brine in Argentina operated by POSCO Holdings starting in 2024, and emphasized that POSCO is enhancing its carbon neutrality execution capability through the operation of the Carbon Neutral Committee and the Carbon Neutral Green Steel Technology Advisory Group.

Furthermore, Chairman Choi met with Fran?ois Legault, Premier of Quebec, Canada, to introduce various future core businesses POSCO Group is promoting in Canada, including the cathode materials business, and requested active cooperation at the provincial government level. He also visited the cathode materials plant under construction by POSCO Future M in Quebec to encourage employees, directly managing key group business issues.
