Hiding Under Bus Seat for Illegal Filming... Driver and Passenger's Wit Catches Culprit
Illegal Filming Reported on Bus on 20th Last Month
Suspect Tried to Delete Footage Under Seat
A bus running through downtown Gwangju suddenly came to a stop. Police officers boarded the bus, and the driver and passengers pointed to the same spot with their hands. When the police checked under an empty seat, they found a suspicious passenger hiding there. He was a suspect in illegal filming.
According to the police on the 26th, around 1:30 p.m. on the 20th of last month, a passenger on a bus passing through Seo-gu, Gwangju, sent a text message report to 112. The message stated, "There is someone filming other passengers' legs."
On May 20th, an illegal filming suspect was arrested on the spot on a bus running in Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City. The photo shows the bus driver gesturing toward a police officer and a passenger pointing to the seat where the suspect is seated.

Considering that the reporter was on the bus together, the police chose to communicate only via text instead of a call to assess the situation. They were concerned that the suspect might notice the police report and become enraged, potentially causing secondary harm, or might get off the bus and flee before the police arrived. The police continued exchanging texts with the reporter to identify the bus number and current location, then waited at the next stop.
In this situation, the reporter asked the bus driver for help in advance, saying, "There is a suspicious passenger, so I reported to the police." Shortly after, the driver spotted the police and raised his right hand to signal, "This is the bus."
The driver asked passengers who were about to board the bus for their understanding and let the officers board first. Then, he gave a thumbs-up and pointed toward the back. At that moment, a passenger also raised their hand and pointed to the adjacent seat with a finger.
At first glance, the seat appeared empty, but when the police approached, they found the suspect hiding under the seat, hastily deleting photos that captured the victim’s lower body.
The suspect complied with the police’s request to hand over his phone, but it was a phone with no usage records. The police then said, "You have two phones, right? Don’t delete anything and give them both to us," and found another phone in the suspect’s pocket.
