'Pocket Pohang' Service Launched... 'Pohang in My Pocket' Mobile News Notifier
Pohang City will officially launch the ‘Pocket Pohang’ service in July, providing citizens with various useful information through mobile notifications on their phones.
‘Pocket Pohang’ is a service that delivers city administration news, festivals, performances, lectures, various events, disaster and daily life information easily and conveniently via KakaoTalk notification messages for subscribers and text messages for non-subscribers.
On the 23rd, the city completed a pilot dispatch of ‘Pocket Pohang’ to about 2,000 pre-registered users, and from July, it plans to send official notifications twice a month. In addition to important city administration and event news, the city plans to provide customized information by region in the future to effectively deliver information that citizens need.

Park Jaegwan, spokesperson for Pohang City, said, “Through Pocket Pohang, important news and information can be accessed quickly and easily via mobile phones in citizens’ hands, and it is expected to become a useful communication channel with citizens.” He added, “We will continue to improve the service so that more citizens can conveniently receive news.”
The ‘Pocket Pohang’ service can be applied for through the Pohang City website or by visiting the eup, myeon, or dong administrative welfare centers.
