7 Trillion KRW Investment Over 5 Years... 1 Trillion KRW Sales Target
Song Jae-ho, Vice President and Head of KT AI/DX Convergence Business Division, held a press conference on the 21st at Novotel Ambassador Dongdaemun in Jung-gu, Seoul, stating, "We will become an ‘AI Service Provider’ that offers the most suitable AI services according to customer and industry demands."
KT plans to invest approximately 7 trillion KRW over five years until 2027 in ultra-large AI technologies, AI core infrastructure such as cloud, and IDC infrastructure advancement.
Focusing on ‘customized AI services’ that include AICC (AI-powered Intelligent Customer Center), AI logistics business, AI robots, AI care, and AI education, KT aims to achieve annual sales exceeding 1 trillion KRW from these five businesses by 2025. KT has already secured cumulative orders exceeding 800 billion KRW in AI businesses such as AICC and AI logistics.
Global expansion of AI business is also being concretized. KT will introduce an AI transportation platform in Singapore, the East Asian logistics hub, in collaboration with Singtel, Singapore’s top telecommunications company, and leading local logistics firms. Additionally, KT Healthcare Vina, a healthcare subsidiary in Vietnam, will be established to commercialize AI care services for cancer and chronic disease patients in the second half of this year.
Market Expansion Through AI Robot Platform
Vice President Song defined the robot business as a ‘service’-centered business rather than hardware-focused. Based on a ‘delivery system’ and ‘robot platform,’ KT plans to lead the spread and market growth of service robots.
To this end, KT will expand its AI robot product lineup. In addition to serving robots, disinfection robots, and indoor delivery robots, KT plans to expand outdoor delivery robot services connecting various stores and residential and office spaces in line with expected legal revisions related to robot autonomous driving in the second half of this year.
KT also plans to expand service domains within this year by introducing small logistics robots for factories and logistics centers responsible for internal small logistics movement, as well as agricultural delivery robots that assist labor in agricultural fields. The goal is to evolve into a ‘customized AI robot service’ that actively responds to diverse customer needs through the integration of ultra-large AI.
Chronic Disease Management with AI Care
KT will also launch remote care services focused on chronic diseases using AI technology. KT’s remote care service involves ‘Care Coordinators’?experts such as nurses and nutritionists?who analyze chronic patients’ data and consultation records using AI technology to provide a ‘care plan’ via app or phone.
KT introduced ‘AI Food Tag’ technology, a core feature of chronic disease management applied to remote care services that assists with dietary management. AI Food Tag technology allows easy recording of meals and nutritional analysis from a single photo, reducing the hassle of data input and making health management easier.
‘GenieTV Care,’ an AI care service expanded to TV for vulnerable groups such as elderly living alone, is also being prepared. It analyzes TV viewing patterns to detect abnormal situations in the elderly and communicates these to KT Telecop control centers, local government officials, and guardians.
Digital Innovation in Education: ‘AI Future Education Platform’
KT also unveiled the ‘AI Future Education Platform,’ leading the realization of future digital education in educational settings. The goal is to drive innovation in future education as a facilitator of Korea’s digital transformation in education.
KT’s AI Future Education Platform reduces teachers’ workload through automation based on digital learning tools, enabling personalized learning guidance with ▲automated instructional design ▲AI-recommended customized material creation ▲automated learning diagnosis and analysis.
