Gangnam-gu (Mayor Jo Seong-myeong) has newly remodeled Gangnam Square Plaza and is operating it as a permanent performance venue.
Located between Gangnam Station Exits 11 and 12, Gangnam Square Plaza was renewed as part of the Gangnam Station area landmark project with upgrades including ▲Media Wall ▲Vent ▲Psy Photo Zone ▲Benches.
After completing construction last December, the Media Wall broadcasts K-POP content, and the plaza is rented out as a permanent performance venue, serving as a space for various cultural events and performances.
Additionally, regular performances are planned every second and fourth Friday of the month, with a total of 12 shows scheduled from June to November.
In collaboration with Kukkiwon, Gugak High School, and the Korea Cultural Heritage Foundation, high-quality Taekwondo demonstrations and traditional cultural performances will be showcased. The first regular performance held on June 8 featured three groups: Yoon Se-yeon X Two-Eum Project, the creative gugak group Harmoye, and the Sorikkot Gakaekdan vocal troupe. Performances by Kukkiwon and Gugak High School will follow on June 23 and July 14, respectively.

Jo Seong-myeong, Mayor of Gangnam-gu, stated, “We plan to provide diverse cultural content by operating a permanent performance venue at Gangnam Station, which attracts many domestic and international tourists,” adding, “We will attract cultural performances representing Korea, such as K-POP, gugak, and Taekwondo, to develop the Gangnam Station area into a K-Culture landmark.”
