The funeral ceremony for the late Professor Ju Seok-jung, a professor of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery at Seoul Asan Medical Center, who passed away in an unexpected traffic accident, was held on the 20th.
On the morning of the 20th, the funeral service for the late Professor Joo Seok-jung of the Asan Medical Center's Department of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery was held at the funeral hall of Seoul Asan Medical Center in Songpa-gu, Seoul.

The funeral ceremony was conducted from 8 a.m. at the funeral hall of Seoul Asan Medical Center in Songpa-gu, Seoul, where the deceased's wake was held, led by the Dean of Ulsan University College of Medicine. Dean Kim Seung-hoo, who delivered the eulogy, said, "I am overwhelmed with grief," and "Those around Professor Ju were at peace due to his considerate nature, always putting others first."
Professor Kim Hong-rae, who worked with the deceased at the hospital, delivered a memorial speech, saying, "He always did his best for patients under any circumstances and brought new life and comfort," and added, "We will honor his wishes by doing our best for the patients. I hope he rests peacefully in heaven without being disturbed by emergency calls at night."
Professor Ju passed away on the 16th after being hit by a dump truck while riding a bicycle on a road near the hospital. He specialized in thoracic surgery, a field often considered challenging, and was especially active in the aortic surgery field, which frequently requires emergency operations, saving countless patients. The funeral hall was visited continuously by Professor Ju’s colleagues, acquaintances, as well as patients and their guardians who regained their lives after surgery.

The medical community also mourned Professor Ju. The Korean Medical Association expressed condolences, stating, "The late professor lived just 10 minutes from the hospital and took charge of emergency surgeries day and night," and added, "For over 30 years, he practiced medicine on the front lines, immediately heading to the operating room whenever an emergency patient appeared, prioritizing his medical duties 24 hours a day over personal time to save patients' lives."
