Seongdong-gu was selected for the 2023 Service Robot Demonstration Project led by the Korea Institute for Robot Industry Advancement and will proceed with the project supported by 60 million KRW in national funding. This recognition follows the success of various initiatives such as the Smart Shelter and Smart Crosswalk, which have made the name of Seongdong known worldwide, as well as the Smart Civil Service Form Creation System.
The civil service guidance robot is one of the administrative service projects utilizing cutting-edge technology and will be deployed on the first floor of Seongdong-gu Office to assist visitors by providing building guidance and various civil service offerings.
As a smart inclusive city, Seongdong-gu has been a leader in applying smart technology in administration. The district is collaborating with private companies specializing in robot supply and app development to introduce the administrative robot. The upcoming robot will be capable of everyday conversations with civil petitioners and provide basic administrative services such as guidance on the district office building and civil service procedures. Furthermore, it plans to include functions for promoting district administration, introducing tourist attractions, and accompanying visitors to their destinations.
The district plans to complete robot development by August, conduct a pilot introduction in September, and continuously improve it through the end of this year. The goal is to enhance the usability of AI robots suitable for the Fourth Industrial Revolution era and provide smart administrative services without inconvenience to residents.
