Gyeonggi Fire Department Conducts Safety Inspections at 9,350 Fire-Vulnerable Multi-Use Facilities

View original imageThe Gyeonggi-do Fire and Disaster Headquarters is stepping up fire safety management targeting accommodation facilities, large supermarkets, and movie theaters that attract many people during the summer vacation season.
The Fire and Disaster Headquarters announced on the 20th that it will promote fire safety management for 9,350 fire-vulnerable multi-use facilities during the summer vacation season until August 31.
This multi-use facility fire safety management will be conducted in two phases: Phase 1 intensive management (June 19 to July 18) and Phase 2 stabilization management (July 19 to August 31).
During Phase 1, each fire station will randomly select fire-vulnerable multi-use facilities and conduct surprise fire safety inspections to ensure fire safety.
During Phase 2, fire station chiefs and others will directly participate in on-site administrative guidance such as fire drills and fire safety consulting.
Meanwhile, among the total 44,746 fires that occurred in Gyeonggi-do from 2018 to 2022, 10,132 fires occurred in the summer season (June to August), accounting for 22.6% of the total.

The leading cause of summer fires was electrical factors with 3,685 cases (36.4%), followed by carelessness with 3,576 cases (35.3%), and mechanical factors with 1,368 cases (13.5%).
