Gyeonggi Office of Education Uncovers 'Illegal Cases' at 99 English Academies for Young Children
The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education has uncovered illegal cases at 99 English academies for young children.
The Office announced on the 19th that it conducted special inspections over two months from April to May on 228 English academies for young children in the province and identified 99 locations with illegal activities.
The Office took administrative actions against the detected academies, including ▲1 suspension of instruction ▲105 correction orders ▲100 administrative guidance cases ▲34 fines ▲a total of 240 administrative measures.
The main violations included 30 cases of improper use of names, which was the most frequent. This was followed by ▲violations related to hiring and dismissal of instructors and staff (29 cases) ▲violations related to tuition fees (19 cases) ▲unregistered facility changes (9 cases) ▲violations of posting, display, and notification (6 cases).

Jimi-sook, Director of Lifelong Education at the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education, stated, "We will continuously monitor violations such as improper use of names by English academies for young children and provide ongoing guidance and inspections for other illegal activities to ensure the sound operation of academies and reduce the burden on parents."
