Daegu City operated a startup support program in collaboration with the Daegu Center for Creative Economy and Innovation to help young entrepreneurs from other regions realize their dreams of starting a business in Daegu.
On the 22nd of last month, Daegu City signed a business agreement with three organizations: the Daegu Center for Creative Economy and Innovation, the Korea Credit Guarantee Fund, and DGB Daegu Bank. Through the operation of the startup support program and follow-up support in various fields, they established a support pathway for young entrepreneurs from other regions to start and settle their businesses in Daegu.
Young entrepreneurs from other regions are visiting Daegu and touring Hands Coffee, a startup company in Daegu.
View original imageThe program was held over two weeks from the 5th to the 16th, with 15 teams of young entrepreneurs active in other regions participating.
To help each team realize their business ideas into actual startups, various programs were provided, including startup education and mentoring by experienced startup founders and field experts, exploration of the local startup ecosystem including Daegu’s representative franchise companies, and networking with young entrepreneurs in Daegu.
At the final idea sharing event held on the 16th, three outstanding teams were selected through presentations and evaluations of their startup ideas.
The first-place team, ‘DoctorTail,’ operates an application-based service in the United States that minimizes unnecessary hospital visits by providing remote consultations with online veterinarians when pets show abnormal symptoms. The second-place team, ‘Bommaeum,’ manufactures and sells barrier-free silicone spoons for the elderly and long-term care recipients. The third-place team, ‘A.I.M,’ produces and sells detachable modular robots that solve existing inconveniences for manual wheelchair users with physical disabilities.
The three selected teams will receive commercialization funds of 30 million KRW for first place, 25 million KRW for second place, and 20 million KRW for third place. Daegu Bank’s ‘Daegu Startup Campus’ and the Korea Industrial Complex Corporation’s company housing will be provided as startup and residential spaces, and the Korea Credit Guarantee Fund will offer startup consulting and financial support.
