Chinese Restaurant Claiming "Duck Neck Found in Food"... Investigation Reveals It Was a Rat Head
Investigation Team Announces Results on "Rodent Heads"
Punishment for Schools and Supervisory Authorities Concealing with Lies
Recent investigations revealed that the foreign object found in the food at a vocational school's cafeteria in China was a 'rodent head.' Initially, despite the clear appearance of a rat's head, the school and supervisory authorities claimed it was a 'duck neck,' which further fueled the controversy.
On the 17th, according to the People's Daily and China's state-run Xinhua News Agency, Jiangxi Province announced that after investigating the foreign object found in the food at a vocational school cafeteria in Nanchang on the 1st, it was determined that the object was not a duck neck as claimed by the school. The investigation team reviewed CCTV footage around the cafeteria kitchen, checked the food ingredient purchase lists, and conducted interviews with the cafeteria manager, kitchen staff, and the student who discovered the foreign object, leading to this conclusion.
Furthermore, the investigation team consulted a reputable domestic animal expert using photos and videos of the foreign object taken by the students, and announced that the object was identified as the head of a rodent, such as a rat.

The incident began on the 1st when a student at the school posted a video claiming, "A foreign object that appears to be a rat's head was found in the food served at the school cafeteria."
As the video gained significant attention, ranking high in portal site search terms, the school hurriedly tried to resolve the situation two days later by stating, "The object is not a foreign body but a normal food item made from a duck neck," adding that "the student who posted the video accepted this explanation, submitted a statement, and deleted the related video." Officials from the local Market Supervision Administration also supported this, saying, "After analyzing the video and investigating the site, it was definitely a duck neck."
However, netizens who viewed the video did not accept this explanation. They mocked the claim with comments such as "Anyone can see this is not a duck neck," "It's absurd to say it's a duck when it has teeth," and "Calling a rat a duck." Rodent experts also expressed the opinion that "it is indeed a rat's head." As the controversy grew despite the school's explanation, authorities launched a direct investigation.
Ultimately, with the foreign object confirmed to be a rat's head, the vocational school and supervisory authorities could not avoid punishment. The cafeteria operator of the vocational school had their business license revoked, and the related company faced fines and other sanctions.
