Accused of Insult and Defamation
"Democratic Party, Publicly Apologize to the People"
The Cheonan Ship Survivors Association and the Families of the 46 Heroes filed a complaint with the National Police Agency on the 16th against Kwon Chil-seung, the senior spokesperson of the Democratic Party of Korea, for charges of insult and defamation.
On the same day, they held a press conference in front of the National Police Agency in Seodaemun-gu, Seoul, stating, "The Democratic Party made a disgraceful remark a day before Memorial Day," and demanded, "Publicly apologize for the current situation and immediately accept a meeting with the Cheonan Ship families and survivors."

As the controversy continued, Senior Spokesperson Kwon held a press conference on the 7th and apologized, saying, "I deeply regret using inappropriate expressions as a spokesperson of a political party and offer my sincere apologies to the Cheonan Ship soldiers and their families, as well as to all those who were hurt emotionally."
