An 80-Year-Old Elderly Man Collecting Recyclables Collapses Due to Heatstroke
An elderly man in his 80s who was collecting scrap paper collapsed due to heatstroke amid unseasonably early heat.
According to the Gwangju Nambu Fire Station on the 16th, a report was received that an 89-year-old man, Mr. A, was found collapsed at an apartment complex in Bangnim-dong, Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City around 2 p.m. the previous day.
At the time, Mr. A, who was collecting scrap paper around the apartment's recycling area, showed symptoms of heatstroke with his body temperature rising to 40 degrees Celsius.
Mr. A was transported by the fire department to a nearby hospital, and fortunately, his life is not in danger.
