Police Arrest Man in His 60s Who Used 50 Fake Real Estate Agents to Commit Jeonse Fraud
The police have arrested a man in his 60s who committed fraud by using over 50 fake licensed real estate agents. The number of victims reaches 1,700.
On the 15th, the Guro Police Station in Seoul, while investigating the 'jeonse fraud' of Villa King, detected suspicious licensed real estate agents. The police are conducting an investigation on a man in his 60s, Mr. A, who disguised more than 50 unqualified civilians as licensed real estate agents to carry out fraudulent contracts.
Mr. A was found to have deceived victims by impersonating himself through about 50 fake licensed real estate agents, then brokered jeonse leases for officetels, one-room apartments, or villas around the Guro area.
They promoted listings online and sought victims. They used the method of deceiving about market prices through these 50 agents. After showing the properties, they tricked victims by having them sign contracts at a temporary office or using nearby cafes to avoid suspicion.
