Yeonggwang-gun Accepts Nominations for 'Citizen Award and Haengnam Filial Piety Award' Candidates

Yeonggwang-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Kang Jong-man) announced on the 15th that it is accepting nominations for the ‘Citizen Award’ and the ‘Haengnam Filial Piety Award’ candidates.

In celebration of the 47th Yeonggwang Citizen’s Day, the county plans to present the ‘Citizen Award’ and the ‘Haengnam Filial Piety Award’ to unsung contributors who have devoted themselves to the development of the local community in various social fields and to citizens who have become social role models through filial piety.

Nominations can be submitted at the town and township offices of the nominee’s residence until the 14th of next month. After a strict review by the judging committee, the awards will be presented at the ceremony commemorating the ‘47th Yeonggwang Citizen’s Day’ held on September 5.

The ‘Citizen Award’ is targeted at those born in Yeonggwang (according to the former “Family Register Act,” those whose registered domicile was Yeonggwang-gun) or residents of Yeonggwang-gun who have lived in the area for more than 10 years and have made significant contributions to the development of the local community or have become exemplary figures through virtuous conduct, bringing honor to the region.

The ‘Haengnam Filial Piety Award’ is intended for residents who have lived in Yeonggwang-gun for more than 10 years and whose filial piety serves as a model for others. One adult and one high school student will be selected to promote the spirit of respect for the elderly and filial piety.
