Imsil-gun, Okjeongho Circular Road Rose Bloom... Enticing Tourists

Imsil-gun, Jeonbuk, is providing tourists with a spectacular sight as roses, known as the "Queen of Flowers," are in full bloom along the Okjeongho Circular Road.

According to the county on the 7th, climbing roses are blooming beautifully along approximately a 15 km section of the Okjeongho Circular Road, captivating the eyes of passersby with their stunning appearance.

To allow visitors to enjoy the scenery throughout the seasons, plans are in place to offer a cherry blossom tunnel in spring, followed by roses and cluster amaryllis in summer and autumn, providing continuous visual attractions.

Recently, peony flowers in full bloom at the Bungeo Island Ecological Park, accessible via the suspension bridge, have attracted many tourists from across the country, gaining great popularity.

The Okjeongho Circular Road, selected as one of the 100 Most Beautiful Roads in the nation, is famous as a driving course, but it is also loved by tourists who use the blooming roses as a photo zone backdrop.

The number of visitors has been increasing every year due to word of mouth from seasonal visitors, and the roses blooming along the Okjeongho Circular Road are expected to showcase their beauty until the end of this month.

Additionally, 10,000 rose bushes of 90 garden rose varieties planted in the four-season rose garden at Imsil Cheese Theme Park, the county’s representative tourist destination, are in full bloom, attracting many visitors.

The county invested 5.6 billion KRW from 2017 to 2021 to create the four-season rose garden on a 10,000㎡ scale to develop Imsil Cheese Theme Park into a tourist site where flowers bloom year-round.

They planted 10,000 premium roses of 90 varieties by David Austin from the UK, receiving much love from tourists immersed in the floral fragrance.

Especially, once the second phase is completed this year?a European-style rose garden covering 38,705㎡ with an investment of 9.8 billion KRW?Imsil Cheese Theme Park is expected to become a splendid European-style theme park featuring roses and cheese as its main attractions.

County Governor Shim Min said, “We will make further efforts to create a scenic environment so that many tourists can heal their weary hearts in daily life by enjoying the roses blooming around the beautiful Okjeongho Circular Road, Bungeo Island, and the Okjeongho suspension bridge.”
