Yeungnam University, EcoPro Materials, and POSCO Plantec Participate
Gyeongbuk Province is launching a ‘Industry-Academia-Government Job Model’ creation project aimed at training specialized personnel and promoting employment.
On the 7th, Gyeongbuk Province signed a business agreement at the provincial office with Yeungnam University, EcoPro Materials, and POSCO Plantec for ‘Gyeongbuk Industry-Academia-Government Cooperation for Talent Development and Job Creation.’
In response to analyses identifying the lack of good local jobs as a major cause of regional extinction, local governments have been called upon to implement projects to prevent population outflow and concentration in the metropolitan area.
Since the 8th term of the provincial government, Gyeongbuk Province has been working to improve youth awareness of excellent local companies and to provide industry-academia-government linked talent development education. The province launched an industry-academia-government co-growth win-win job project to expand youth employment opportunities and establish a regional settlement model.
This agreement was established as part of the Gyeongbuk Industry-Academia-Government Co-Growth Win-Win Job Project, where companies collaborate with universities to jointly cultivate the growth engines they need, create a foundation to promote youth employment, prevent the outflow of local youth to the metropolitan area, and foster a sustainable job market.
The main contents of the agreement include △ cooperation in industry-tailored talent development projects △ development and operation of industry-academia cooperation programs △ strengthening networks for youth job creation △ and mutual cooperation in other projects requiring collaboration among the participating institutions.
Yeungnam University will open regular curricula starting this second half of the year and will promote local company awareness education and company-tailored specialized camps.
Participating companies EcoPro Materials and POSCO Plantec will take the lead in job creation by supporting company-specific education and linking outstanding graduates from internship programs during the winter semester to local youth recruitment.
Gyeongbuk Province plans to provide employment services such as budget support for the industry-academia-government co-growth project and settlement funds for newly hired employees.
Gyeongbuk Province is fully committed to administrative support for talent development and job linkage necessary for business activities centered on the private economy, as well as for youth settlement in the region.
Together with Yeungnam University and Kyungpook National University, pilot programs such as local excellent company visits, awareness programs, and specialized lectures and training courses in fields like future automobiles will be operated as part of industry-academia-government linked education.
Through this, universities and companies will jointly cultivate personnel to be deployed in industrial sites, and companies will prioritize hiring talent from local universities, thereby establishing a virtuous cycle job model within the region.
