Operation of 'Special Crackdown Period for Economic Security'
Six individuals, including employees who leaked customer information from their company to a competitor, have been arrested by the police and are set to undergo prosecution investigation for industrial technology information leakage.
The Gyeongbuk Provincial Police Agency (Chief Choi Joo-won) announced on the 4th that they apprehended six current and former employees, including Mr. A (39 years old), who secretly took company customer information and trade secrets and handed them over to a competing company, and sent them to the prosecution.
According to the police, Mr. A and two others are suspected of agreeing to move to a competing company last June under the condition of receiving a higher annual salary and transferring trade secrets such as the customer list of their current company to the competitor.
During this process, it was revealed that two current employees also participated in leaking trade secrets at the request of Mr. A and others, leading to their additional arrest.
The police stated, "From February to October this year, we designated this period as a 'Special Crackdown on Economic Security Crimes' and have concentrated investigative efforts on cases involving the leakage of trade secrets and industrial technology, having cracked down on 42 cases this year alone."
