Curly Launches 'Jegakgak' Featuring Ugly Vegetables
Introducing 12 Varieties of Ugly Vegetables Including Cucumber and Carrot
Retail tech company Kurly announced on the 1st that it has launched "Jegakgak," a collection of imperfect vegetables.
Jegakgak consists of vegetables that may have uneven sizes or rough appearances but have no issues with taste or quality. The products feature increased weight and reduced prices. Kurly has prepared a total of 12 types, ranging from frequently used vegetables like carrots, cucumbers, zucchini, and chili peppers to versatile items such as paprika, eggplants, and ginseng.
Kurly expects Jegakgak to create a win-win effect with producers. Since about 10-30% of total production consists of imperfect agricultural products that are usually discarded, selling these items helps producers save on disposal costs and earn additional income. Kurly plans to gradually expand the Jegakgak product line, currently consisting of 12 types, through continuous consultations with farms.
