According to reports, the incident occurred on the 28th in front of a butcher shop in Tecamac, State of Mexico. An armed man had a minor argument with the shop owner inside the butcher shop and then came outside. Suddenly, the man picked up a dog on the street and put it into a nearby pot, which was reportedly filled with boiling hot oil at the time.
The butcher shop owner quickly turned off the gas valve, but the dog struggled violently and died within seconds. The incident happened too quickly for anyone to intervene.
The man then got into his parked car and fled the scene. This was recorded by a closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera installed around the butcher shop, and the video was shared across various SNS platforms. The video alone has garnered over 2 million views on Twitter within two days, provoking widespread public outrage.
In response, President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador condemned the act as "unacceptable," emphasizing, "We must not lose the values of love and care not only for our neighbors but also for animals."
Secretary Rodriguez stated, "The identity of the man suspected of animal abuse has already been confirmed," adding, "The court has issued an arrest warrant requested by the prosecution." She further explained, "The prosecution is handling the case with support from the Federal Citizen Protection Agency, local government citizen safety offices, and security agencies," and added, "Considering the national interest in this case, we plan to respond strictly."
