Asiana Airlines, Labor Union of Flight Attendants Engage in Industrial Action Amid Wage Negotiation Difficulties
The Asiana Airlines Pilots' Union is set to begin full-scale industrial action amid difficulties in wage increase negotiations.
The pilots' union announced on the 29th that 92.39% (874 votes) of the 1,095 union members who participated in the strike vote from the 23rd to the 28th voted in favor.
Accordingly, following the formation of a strike countermeasure committee the previous day, the pilots' union will hold a launching ceremony on the 7th of next month to commence industrial action.
The union plans to start with a 'lawful struggle' by thoroughly conducting joint briefings with the cabin crew, which had previously been done in a simplified manner before flights, thereby legally delaying flights, and gradually intensify the strike.

Choi Do-seong, the union chairman, said, "This voting result shows the anger of union members who endured wage cuts during the COVID-19 period and devoted themselves to flight operations for passenger safety, feeling betrayed by the company." He added, "If the management does not sincerely respond to wage negotiations, we are considering a strike."
