Busan City Ranks First in This Year's Local Government Lottery Fund Project Performance Evaluation
Special Transportation Service for the Mobility Disadvantaged 'Duribal' Operation Project
Ranked 1st for 2 Consecutive Years, Achieved Highest Scores Among 40 Local Governments
Busan City’s “Special Transportation for the Mobility Disadvantaged ‘Duribal, Mobility Disadvantaged Call Taxi’ Operation Project” ranked first in the Ministry of Economy and Finance’s “2022 Local Government Lottery Fund Project Performance Evaluation.”
This achievement was due to receiving a score of 87.23, the highest among 40 local government projects evaluated, marking Busan’s consecutive second year at the top.
The lottery fund is created through the issuance of lottery tickets and, according to Article 23 of the “Lottery and Lottery Fund Act,” is used for public interest projects selected by the Lottery Commission, including housing stability support projects for low-income groups and welfare projects for marginalized groups such as the disabled, distributed to 10 statutory allocation institutions including local governments.
The city has continuously strived to secure lottery fund budgets to improve mobility convenience for the disabled and other mobility disadvantaged groups. As a result, in 2020, the “Special Transportation for the Mobility Disadvantaged ‘Duribal, Mobility Disadvantaged Call Taxi’ Operation Project” was selected as a lottery fund project and received 6.48 billion KRW in lottery funds, enabling its ongoing operation.
Since the project’s launch in 2020, Busan Facilities Corporation, the entrusted operating agency, has worked together to enhance the project’s completeness through various trials and errors. Consequently, the project received 7.952 billion KRW in 2021 and achieved first place in the “Local Government Lottery Fund Project Performance Evaluation.” In 2022, with 8.47 billion KRW in support, the project once again proved its excellence by securing first place for the second consecutive year.
Busan City expects to receive next year’s lottery fund budget exceeding the 10.729 billion KRW supported this year, as the lottery fund is allocated with varying adjustment rates based on performance evaluation results.
