A man in his 50s who stole the 'Site of the Founding Conference of the Joseon Communist Party' plaque erected in Sogong-dong, Jung-gu, Seoul, was caught by the police. He is known to be a conservative YouTuber with 210,000 subscribers and reportedly stated that he committed the theft to prevent the spread of communism.
On the 23rd, the Namdaemun Police Station in Seoul announced that they had booked a man in his 50s, Mr. A, on charges including theft.
Mr. A is suspected of stealing and damaging the plaque of the Site of the Founding Conference of the Joseon Communist Party located in Sogong-dong on the 24th of last month. On the 12th, he took the plaque to the area in front of Seongbuk-gu Office near Sarang Jeil Church and struck it with a pickaxe. He then buried the plaque in the ground near Sarang Jeil Church. Mr. A filmed the act of damaging the plaque and uploaded it to his YouTube channel. His channel has approximately 215,000 subscribers.
During the police investigation, he stated, "I took the plaque because I was worried that the Communist Party would spread in society." It is also known that he is still considering how to dispose of the plaque.

The plaque was installed on March 30 of this year after the Seoul City Historical and Cultural Heritage Committee approved the Labor Party's application in July last year. After the plaque disappeared, Seoul City requested a police investigation on the 25th of last month.
