Adolescents Exposed to New and Emerging Harmful Environments... Seeking Solutions On-Site
Minister Kim Hyun-sook of the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family Holds Meeting to Strengthen Youth Protection
On the afternoon of the 23rd, Kim Hyun-sook, Minister of Gender Equality and Family, visited the Seoul Youth Counseling and Welfare Center to hold an on-site meeting with youth protection field experts for the effective implementation of policies.
This meeting was arranged to discuss blocking illegal and harmful environments such as youth harmful establishments, drugs, and cyber violence, as well as supporting the healing of affected youth, by visiting the field of crisis youth support, one of the national agenda items, on the occasion of the first anniversary of the new government’s launch.
During the meeting, effective inspection and crackdown measures on youth harmful establishments, strengthening counseling expertise for crisis youth exposed to harmful environments, and enhancing healing support will be discussed.
According to the ‘Measures to Strengthen Youth Protection from New and Emerging Harmful Environments’ announced on the 9th, the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family plans to continuously inspect and crack down to block youth exposure to harmful establishments, drugs, gambling, and digital violence, and to early identify youth affected by harmful environments to strengthen professional care and healing support so they can restore their daily lives.
In addition, the ministry plans to strengthen preventive education so that youth themselves can develop discernment regarding harmful environments both inside and outside of school, while also raising societal interest and awareness about youth protection.
