Jeju Coast Guard Produces and Distributes Promotional Video on the Importance of Wearing Life Jackets

Jeju Maritime Police Station (Chief So Byung-yong) announced on the 22nd that it has planned, produced, and distributed a public service video campaign emphasizing the importance of wearing life jackets to prevent coastal accidents and promote marine safety culture during the summer peak season.

The video titled ‘Mulnori heolttaerang gumyeongjokki ipge masim~!’ was created as part of a marine safety culture promotion campaign that uses the strong yet friendly Jeju dialect phrase meaning ‘Please wear a life jacket when playing in the water~!’ to raise public awareness and engagement.

As travel demand, which was suppressed for a while due to COVID-19, increases, public interest in marine leisure is rising, and with many tourists visiting the Jeju sea during the summer peak season, accidents caused by carelessness are also expected to increase.

To actively promote the prevention of water play accidents in coastal areas and the importance of wearing life jackets, Jeju Maritime Police officers directly planned and participated in producing the life jacket wearing campaign video.

Additionally, from this month until October 31, the promotional video will be broadcast at over 1,300 locations including airports, coastal and international passenger ship terminals, Bus Information Systems (BIS), and major road electronic billboards throughout the province, aiming to instill a proper marine safety culture awareness that is expected to reduce casualties in various marine accidents.

A Jeju Maritime Police official said, “We hope the public perception of life jackets will change just like car seat belts, and we ask everyone to always wear a life jacket when playing in the water for their own and their family’s safety.”
