Alleviation of Trauma Symptoms
Pohang City, through the Pohang Earthquake Trauma Center, will operate the 2023 First Half Natural Healing Camp "Walking in the Forest Within the Mind" program from the 23rd to the 31st, held a total of four times for 40 Pohang citizens experiencing psychological and emotional distress due to earthquakes, typhoons, and other disasters.
This program has been conducted annually since 2019 to help alleviate trauma symptoms and promote mental and physical stability through forest healing programs.
This camp will be held a total of four times, with mental health experts from the Pohang Earthquake Trauma Center and forest education experts from Gyeongbuk Forest participating together. Sessions on the 23rd and 24th will take place at Sabang Memorial Park, and on the 30th and 31st at Doeumsan Forest Culture Training Center.
The detailed program includes disaster stress management activities such as ▲disaster safety education ▲psychological scale assessments ▲making companion plants for mental and physical relaxation. Additionally, forest healing programs like ▲five-sense walking meditation ▲forest health gymnastics ▲laughter therapy are included to revitalize tired bodies and minds and aid recovery to daily life.
Furthermore, the Pohang Earthquake Trauma Center will assess the psychological scales of participants in this program and, based on the results, provide personalized services such as consultations with mental health specialists, intensive care, and linkage to mental and physical stabilization programs, continuing sustained management to heal citizens' trauma and prevent recurrence.
The Pohang Earthquake Trauma Center operates various programs for citizens suffering from disaster trauma, including ▲in-depth consultations with psychiatric specialists ▲professional healing equipment ▲body relaxation programs ▲small-scale outdoor programs.
