Customer Demands "Insurance Claim Because Soup Leaked from Container"
A story of a snack bar owner complaining about a customer who demanded 300,000 won for car wash expenses after fish cake broth leaked in their car from a 3,000 won fish cake takeout order has been shared online.
On the 18th, a post titled "I experienced something I only saw in the news" was uploaded on an online community. The author, Mr. A, who runs a snack bar, said, "A customer took out 3,000 won worth of fish cakes, but it seems they placed their shopping bag on top of the fish cakes," and added, "The customer came to the store asking for compensation because the fish cake broth leaked."

Judging from these photos, it appears that the broth leaked from the fish cake container inside the shopping bag, causing the car seat to become wet as well.
Mr. A suggested to the customer, "Why don't you try a car wash and seat cleaning first?" but the customer responded, "What if it doesn't come out? How can I trust you?" and insisted on insurance coverage. The customer reportedly said things like, "The (car) seat needs to be removed," and "I got an estimate, and it’s at least 300,000 won."
Mr. A also expressed his frustration. After reviewing the store’s closed-circuit television (CCTV), he confirmed there was no problem with the packaging.

The staff confirmed that the fish cake broth did not leak, and we even confirmed the customer placing the order into the shopping bag before leaving," adding, "The product was sold properly, so why should I have to compensate?" Mr. A also shared CCTV footage showing an employee placing fish cakes in a plastic container and wrapping the top with plastic.
Most netizens who read the post expressed support for Mr. A. Comments comforted the owner, saying things like, "Just ignore such unreasonable customers," and "The fish cake shop is not at fault at all." Many also criticized the customer for making unreasonable demands.
One netizen mocked the customer, saying, "By that logic, if a bag breaks after buying something at a mart, it’s the mart’s fault, and if you fall while walking, it’s also the mart’s responsibility," while another comment emphasized the owner’s reasonable response, stating, "If you compensate just because it’s troublesome, more unreasonable customers will appear."
