Damyang-gun's Construction of a Self-Reliant Economic City Based on 'Big Data and Artificial Intelligence'
Signed a Business Agreement with Korea Research Institute for Human Settlements for the 'Big Data-Based AI Urban Planning Technology Development Project'
Selected as the Final Local Government for the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport'
On the 18th, Damyang-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that it signed a "Business Agreement for the Development of Big Data-Based Artificial Intelligence Urban Planning Technology" with the Korea Research Institute for Human Settlements.
According to the agreement, Damyang-gun and the Korea Research Institute for Human Settlements will actively cooperate in establishing a mutual cooperation system for the development of urban planning technology utilizing big data-based artificial intelligence, providing consultation for data-driven urban planning support, and collaborating through the application and verification of new technologies.
This agreement was made following Damyang-gun's final selection as the pilot local government for the demonstration project applying the 'Big Data-Based Artificial Intelligence Urban Planning R&D' (hereinafter referred to as ‘AI Urban Planning R&D’) technology.
The ‘AI Urban Planning R&D’ project aims to develop technology that supports optimal urban planning by utilizing various big data and artificial intelligence to perform tasks such as setting living zones, predicting land use and infrastructure demand.
Damyang-gun plans to analyze data such as credit card usage, mobile communications, and highway traffic volume to estimate the population induced by local tourism resources and the experiential and tourism population linked with nearby cities, and utilize this in establishing urban plans that reflect infrastructure placement optimized for ecological tourism, thereby realizing a ‘self-reliant economic city construction’ to respond to local extinction.
