Prosecutors Indict Employee of Song Young-gil's Outer Organization 'Meoksayeon' for Evidence Tampering
The prosecution investigating the Democratic Party of Korea's '2021 Party Convention Money Envelope Suspicion' has booked an employee belonging to a peripheral organization of former leader Song Young-gil on charges of evidence tampering and is conducting an investigation.

View original imageAccording to the legal community on the 17th, the Anti-Corruption Investigation Division 2 of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office (Chief Prosecutor Kim Young-cheol) recently booked Park, an accounting staff member of the incorporated association Meokgosaneunmunje Research Institute (Meoksayeon), on charges of evidence tampering. Accordingly, Park's status changed from a witness to a suspect. Kim, who was in charge of administrative work at Meoksayeon along with Park, was also booked on charges of evidence tampering.
Park is known to have been responsible for accounting work in former leader Song's camp during the 2021 party convention. During a raid on Meoksayeon on the 29th of last month, the prosecution discovered circumstances indicating that some PC hard disks had been formatted or replaced and has been investigating the details. Park also visited France around March and met with former leader Song.

Last week, the prosecution also summoned Lee, who served as a secretary to former leader Song when he was a member of the National Assembly, as a witness for questioning. Lee is known to have served as a secretary when Song was the mayor of Incheon and was also active at Meoksayeon.
