A Special Concert Exclusively for Nowon-gu Residents Amid the Blue Slopes of Suraksan and the Sunset Scenery
Nowon-gu (Mayor Oh Seung-rok) announced that the Suraksan Sunset Concert will be held at the Suraksan Sports Town Baseball Stadium at 7 PM on the 20th.
The Suraksan Sports Town, where the concert will take place, is a leisure facility for residents that was redeveloped from the slopes of Suraksan, which had suffered from unauthorized buildings and illegal waste dumping.
With a project budget of 44 billion KRW, a total area of about 30,000㎡ was developed to include a soccer field, baseball stadium, tennis courts, soft tennis courts, and leisure green spaces, and it has been in operation since October last year.
The district will hold a special concert at the baseball stadium at 7 PM on the 20th. This event was prepared to deliver a message of new hope to the residents who endured the pandemic period of 3 years and 4 months, following the government’s official declaration of the end of COVID-19.
The Sunset Concert will feature ▲ Choi Baek-ho, who has been loved by the public for a long time with songs that transcend eras ▲ Lee Chi-hyun and Friends, representatives of Korean soft rock ▲ Park Chang-geun, who captivated audiences on the audition program "Tomorrow’s National Singer" ▲ Park Hak-ki, a well-known folk singer-songwriter ▲ and HYNN (Park Hye-won), who sings delicate emotions with powerful vocal skills.
Each artist has prepared a stage themed around hope, love, courage, and perseverance, and a special stage exclusively for Nowon-gu residents attending the Sunset Concert is also arranged, raising expectations even higher. The natural surroundings of Suraksan and the atmosphere at sunset combined with the performers’ splendid stages will offer residents a memorable experience.
For this performance, the district began advance reservations for residents via internet and phone from 10 AM on the 8th. Reflecting the high interest of residents in the Sunset Concert, inquiry calls continued, and all 3,000 advance reservation seats were fully booked on the day.
Advance reservation holders can receive their tickets (entry wristbands) by presenting the reservation confirmation text and identification proving that they and one accompanying person are Nowon-gu residents at the on-site ticket booth from 3 PM on the day of the concert, the 20th. Entry starts at 5 PM, and seating is on a free seating basis.
Next to the concert venue’s soccer field, on-site seats are prepared for residents who failed to secure advance reservations and for visitors from other areas. The performance can be watched live on a large LED screen, and entry is allowed from 5 PM without a separate ticket.
A district official advised that due to the characteristics of Suraksan Sports Town and the surrounding area where the concert is held, there is no separate parking space, so public transportation should be used.
The district will hold a craft beer festival on June 2-3 near Hwarangdae Railroad Park along the Gyeongchun Line Forest Trail, a popular spot for young people. The festival will offer over 150 types of beer and operate food trucks linked with local traditional markets. The combination of beer and live music performances will create a relaxed atmosphere, promising a young and trendy festival.
