Through this project, which has been underway since 2020, 43 companies have received support for product development and marketing activities over three years. This year, about 12 companies will be selected and supported with up to 30 million KRW.

Companies that assist foreign medical tourists with entry, medical institution recommendations, administration, stay in Korea, and departure are eligible for support. This year, only companies registered as foreign patient attraction businesses can participate.

Applications are accepted through the Korea Tourism Industry Portal Touraz. Interested organizations must submit an application form and business plan, then go through the first document screening and the second presentation screening to be selected.

Selected companies are classified as top or excellent companies based on comprehensive evaluation scores. They will receive product development support funds of up to 30 million KRW and 20 million KRW, respectively. However, they must use at least 10% of the maximum support amount as self-funding for the project expenses.

The organization plans to develop and operate capacity-building education on global medical tourism trends and market-specific medical tourism marketing strategies for employees of the selected and other attraction companies.

Hosuyoung, head of the Medical Wellness Team at the Korea Tourism Organization, stated, "With the advent of the endemic phase, developing competitive medical tourism products and strengthening the capabilities of attraction companies are essential to actively attract medical tourists. We plan to focus on revitalizing medical tourism through the development of specialized and linked medical service products and promotional support."
