KEPCO Reports Operating Loss of 6.1776 Trillion KRW in Q1... Cumulative Deficit Reaches 39 Trillion KRW
Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) recorded an operating loss of 6.2 trillion won in the first quarter of this year. As a result, the cumulative loss approached 40 trillion won.
KEPCO announced on the 12th that its first-quarter financial results showed sales of 21.594 trillion won and operating expenses of 27.716 trillion won.
During the same period, the operating loss was 6.1776 trillion won, a 20.7% decrease compared to the same period last year (7.7869 trillion won). The cumulative operating loss increased to 38.8034 trillion won, following last year's 32.6034 trillion won.

A KEPCO official explained, "Sales increased by 5.1299 trillion won (31.2%) due to rate adjustments, etc.," and "Operating expenses rose by 14.5% compared to the same period last year due to increases in fuel costs and power purchase costs."
