Driving School Reservation Platform 'Unjeon Seonsaeng' Secures Seed Investment
'Taeunseonsaeng' Operator TG Society Secures Investment Funds
Strong Ventures and HB Investment Participate
TG Society, the operator of the driving school price comparison and reservation platform ‘Unjeon Seonsaeng,’ has secured seed investment. It is attracting attention as a leader in the digital innovation of the driving education market.
On the 12th, TG Society announced that it had raised seed investment. HB Investment and Strong Ventures participated in this round.
Founded in December last year, TG Society operates Unjeon Seonsaeng with the goal of “making driving education easier and faster for everyone,” aiming to innovate the driving education market, which has been slow to digitalize.
In the current driving education market, consumers face issues such as ▲inconvenience in searching for specialized driving schools and gathering information about courses ▲inability to make real-time online reservations ▲difficulty in identifying illegal operators. On the supply side, driving schools also struggle with ▲a decline in the young population and new driver’s license holders ▲difficulty differentiating themselves and marketing due to the emergence of indoor driving practice centers like simulation schools and illegal operators.
Unjeon Seonsaeng enables users to search and compare prices for all driving schools nationwide and helps students make real-time education reservations with just a few clicks without connecting to a counselor. It also provides driving schools with an online reservation management platform to automate their systems and supports increased sales through customized marketing.
As of February, just two months after its launch, Unjeon Seonsaeng has shown results with 37,000 monthly active users (MAU) and a total of 60,000 cumulative users. The service is available not only on the website but also on iOS and Android mobile apps.
TG Society aims to bring innovation to the domestic market by following the example of the French driving education startup Ornika. Established in 2014, Ornika introduced online education and reservations to the fragmented French driving education market, significantly reducing the costs of education and revolutionizing the traditional driving education method. As of 2021, Ornika’s cumulative investment reached $175 million (approximately 232.1 billion KRW), with a corporate valuation of $750 million (approximately 995 billion KRW). Building on its success in France, Ornika has expanded to various parts of Europe, including Spain and the UK.
CEO Oh Seok-jun of TG Society previously worked as an investment analyst at Fast Ventures and SJ Investment Partners, focusing on platform startups. Based on his deep understanding of the industry, he founded and has been operating TG Society since December 2022.
With this investment, TG Society plans to focus intensively on developing an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system for driving schools and advancing personalized driving education.
CEO Oh said, “Unjeon Seonsaeng aims to innovate an old market and provide proper educational opportunities. Leveraging this seed investment as a stepping stone, we will lead the digitalization of the driving education market so that all citizens can receive convenient and safe education.”
Joo Ji-yoon, director at Strong Ventures, said, “We were very impressed by how the TG Society team developed Unjeon Seonsaeng by analyzing user behavior and their sales efforts targeting offline driving schools. We invested because we believe this team can digitalize the outdated domestic driving education market.”
Kim Min-sung, an investment analyst at HB Investment, added, “The operation and reservation methods in the driving education market have not changed for the past 60 years, and there have been many inefficiencies and illegal activities in this market. TG Society is expected to lead the driving education industry with differentiated technology.”
